I was so afraid

of this aloneness.

I did all I could

to avoid the void,

and the fear

that it evoked in me.

The motivation

to speak of this

comes from

compassion,

from love

of our shared

essential aloneness,

and the impossibility

of escape.

The simple peace

of no longer trying

to assuage

the dreadful pain

of my aloneness.

No loneliness..

This alone.
